Since you are considering quartz watches, I think that this choice depends on his style preference and comfort. Both watches use ETA quartz movements, so neither is really better than the other in that department. I am not sure why the quartz Kirium is as expensive as it is, but it is a very nice, solid watch. I had a Tag Heuer Formula One watch for years (the least expensive of the Tags), and it kept excellent time and held up very well. For the price of a quartz Kirium, you can get an automatic Seamaster Professional.
