: "In light of the proceeding globalization
: in the field of luxury brands (Chinese and
: other developing markets), Omega just intend
: to get rid of the mass-product-image by
: reducing the numers of their outlets. This
: is a painful process but without this
: consequent step, Omega will dilute with
: other mid- and low-level brands like TAG
: Heuer, Ebel, Sinn and other brands. This
: might be a way too, but they didn't choose
: this way to go."
: How about if Omega started focusing on quality
: again instead of reducing its outlet
: capacity?
: In my opinion, Omega is merely trying to fix
: its image problems from the wrong end.
: Firstly and mostly, image is upheld by
: QUALITY. Omega can limit its outlets as much
: as it likes. If the company has to resort to
: such pathetic measures, it seems as if the
: more urgent quality issues remained
: unaddressed.
: John, I'm sorry to hear about your
: disappointment. Fortunately, Omega isn't the
: only brand I admire, (its one of many brands
: I admire) so my chances of being completely
: disappointed by them is much smaller. I do
: hope, however, that you will not decide to
: leave this forum because of your
: disappointment with Omega. Your
: contributions have been extremely valuable,
: especially since Derek's demise.
: Common man
Your comments are too kind, Common Man. I did spend many years reading anything and everything I could on current Omega models, since that's what always interested me. Now, at the advice of a friend, I plan to devote much more time to reading about vintage models. So, to answer your question, I will not just up and leave the forum, though I may not be the "cheerleader" for current models that I used to be.
Omega's recent actions have really shown me that they don't value their customers' opinions. They chose to ignore the comments of 240+ people who signed the petition, which further illustrates their lack of committment to customer satisfaction.
