You know I get the feeling everybody in this series of posts is not seeing Omega's weak link. Rolex gets away with what it does because thay have had about 50 years practice. They have hammered an image that they are the best. The average person thinks thay are the best and the only watch to strive for. Right or wrong. Omega's President is kidding himself he'll be gone in 3 years and he'll need all of that that to spend millions creating this new image. If he was smart he would craft the image first then cull the distribution network. In the end, Omega will be begging for guys like Gelber & Munday that move goods. Swatch won't let Omega take the time to do this. You can't just sell the watch from a classy store and charge $1000.00 more. The average buyer doesn't care. The more expensive Omega gets the better Rolex looks. The majority of buyers are buying these watches to impress somebody. And don't think the marketing guys at Rolex don't know it.
