John,
I am really dissappointed to hear this news. To end a 25 year partnership in this way is totally inacceptable. And Omega wants to talk about image, you have 3 ADs in one mall in Florida, I have NO ADs in Lansing, Michigan (capitol city- an for the record, there are Rolex ads here), but I guess I could always go to a local SAM's club and purchase an Omega, or go on-line. Yep, lets get rid of the good ADs and drive people to alternatives that definitely make their image better (note the sarcasm). This reply has many things addressed in other posts, so I apoligize for my rants. John, just to update you, I did send my letter to Omega's customer service and also to Mr. Swift, and received NO reply (except from Maria, who let me know she has done as I requested and forwarded on the message to those who would care....), so this lets me know exactly how much Omega cares about me and my money. As far as the comments about the discounts your AD was giving, why would Omega care when they were still getting the exact same money that they had always been getting, when someone discounts, it comes out of their pocket, not Omega's; plus why care about discounts whe warehouse clubs and online grey market dealers exist in huge numbers?
Yes, many people care about this, it is not just an AD, it is the customers, the AD, the ADs family that truely suffer. Put yourself in their place, would you like no warning and then have someone take away a source of income?
I do not know if I will purchase another Omega or not, only time will tell. Maybe the way to go is the vintage route, or the used route.
What is interesting to me is that Omega ignored 240 people, which is potentially millions of dollars in sales. It makes no sense to me.
For those of you that made it through this post, I hope my ramblings made some sense, and thanks for listening.
