Hi Steve,
1st & most important question. How do you
know that it is from 1946?
It belongs to my Father and that is the date he told me.
From the literature that I have, I think the earliest Seamaster came onto the market in 1948.
2nd, To guess at a value we'd need to now
exactly which model we are talking about. If
we ignore the date ( or say 1948 - 1955 ),
there are loads of possible Seamasters that
fit your description.
I would have to send pictures of them via email to my father so he could tell you the exact one.
3rd, Gold Coloured band ? it will make a big
difference to know if the band is Solid Gold
or gold plated.
Would have to ask my father.
4th, Original box & papers will also increase the value dramatically.
5th, Inside the watch are various numbers ( on
the movement & on the inside of the case back ). these will help us to give you more details.
My Father does not want to open back due to him not knowing how the water proof seal is at this time.
Finally, even if I knew exactly which model we
are talking about here I wouldn't know how much it's worth.
I assume it's not a divers watch ( from the age
& that it is gold ). The 1st generation of divers can fetch very high prices ( I'd
say $2000 upwards ).
I don't think that the "dress" watches are fetching those prices, but there ARE exceptions.
Sorry to put a negative side on your request.
but without more Info, it's almost impossible to give you more details.
