Planning on adding a Speedmaster Moon Watch to the collection. Thinking about a caliber 1861/1863 or 863. Any ideas or suggestions of one over the other?

Hi Mike,

you can't you wrong with any of those 3 movements.
The only real difference between the 861 & 1/863 is the finish. The 863 variants are a bit nicer to look at. the mechanical components are identical except for the final finish.

An implied difference between the 861 & 863 watches is the caseback. An 861 the watch will have a solid metal caseback, On an 863 variant it will have a "display" back. These are usually more expensive.

I guess it's up to you to decide if the extra expense is worth it to you.
