Alistair,
That's exactly what i was looking for...and a very clever solution for the condition of the watch as you started the project. I'd daresay it looks extremely durable especially considering the prepwork that went into it. I bet every "stealth" (or what ever the final verdict is on the name;-) has a story behind it...very cool to read yours. Keep up the great work! Is there any place i can see other examples of projects you've done? Thanks!
: Hi Michael,
: Not too amazing really. I bought the watch from
: a WIS earlier in the year, the watch was
: functional but someone had don a DIY case
: finish on it with what looked like sand
: paper so as a restorable piece (I sell
: watches you know) it was always going to be
: ruined. So I contacted Jack at IWW who has
: done a few jobs for me restoring my watches
: who's work is excellent.
: The watch came on a vintage bracelet in great
: condition but apart from the case the hands
: were 'worn' out!
: So I had Jack prepare the case and bracelet by
: bead blasting them with a fine bead to
: create a key for the PVD. The biggest
: problem was the crown as it was almost
: impossible to remove the seal and re use but
: my watchmaker in the UK came up with a
: little tool that would remove the rubber
: seal without breaking it so it could go back
: in later.
: So with the case/bracelet PVD coated I ordered
: a new handset from Omega voila' you have one
: of the nicest PVD watches imaginable.
: It has gone on my site as the costs involved
: were great so someone is going to get a
: fantastic watch when it sells.
: Ask away if you would like any more
: information.
: It's a cool watch and I would like to keep it
: but then I would like to keep all of them
: that is why I will not be reiring any time
: soon!
: Regards
: Alistair
