: Hello all,
: This is my first post on this forum but I would
: like to thank you for all the information
: you have provided me while I have been
: browsing over the past few months.
: I purchased an 2531.80 Seamaster Automatic 300m
: today and everything looks great! The only
: question/concern I have is that on the
: Chronocentric website it says:
: "Quick-set date and rapid date change.
: The date can be advanced easily from the
: stem. The date changes shortly after 12:00
: midnight, clicking forward in a fraction of
: a second."
: My Seamaster just approached midnight and the
: date clicked from 30 to 31 at around 11:57.
: This may sound trival but I just wanted to
: check out of curiousity and also wanted to
: make sure this was not a symptom of a bigger
: problem I need to address.
: Thanks for any help or comments,
: Josh.
From the Owner's Zone Troubleshooter's Guide:
Watches with rapid change date have the date window rollover very fast--often within a fraction of a second. This is a more precise way of displaying the date, but requires a more complicated mechanism. Having the precise time that this rapid change occurs be off from midnight is a common issue. Rapid date change watches usually come from the factory set for the date change to within 10 minutes of midnight.
Since your date is changing within 3 minutes to midnight, your watch is perfectly normal. My 2531.80 changes about 10 minutes or so after midnight and has from day one (it is now 4 years old).
Enjoy your watch,
John
