I was reading thru the reference work here on CC about the 'fake' Omega watches and noticed that one of the ways to acknowledge a fake Speedmaster was via the color of the minute and hour hands where they meet the base on the dial. The base of the hands according to the "Chronocentric gallery of Omega Speedmaster Fakes" needs to be the same color as the dial? Narrative reads:2) "Base of hands are incorrect -- minute and hour hands should match dial color at base, second hand should have a circular hub."
In applying this logic to the 2002 LE Speedmaster Day Date I find that the hands are entirely white to the base. This is the triple date model with the Kevlar Dial reminiscent of the F1 vehicle's carbon fiber contruction. I also reviewed Steve Waddington's site named "The Schumacher Omegas" and found that the hands on the model shown there also are entirely white. I recently purchased one of these 02 triple date Omegas and it also matches the model shown in the picture above link with white hands all the way to the base. I am curious if you folks have any comments that will help show that I have not purchased a fake Speedmaster? I have the papers...but we know how that can go. Thank you all very much.
