: I purchased an Omega Seamaster Professional
: Chronometer 300M (2254.50) from World of
: Watches a few months back. Unfortunately, I
: was unaware of this site and just read that
: World of Watches has been known to remove
: Serial Numbers. I looked where the
: Chronocentric says to look for the SN and I
: dont see one. I can only assume that they
: DID remove the SN.
: My question, is how this affects the value of
: my watch and is there any chance that it is
: a fake? It came in what looks like an
: official Omega box (large, white) with a
: very nice leather bound manual. The watch
: looks and feels real but I am no expert.
: Any thoughts on what I should do? Has anyone
: here experienced this? Links to more reading
: would be nice too.
: I have included a few pics of the watch but
: they are not great. I can email the
: originals to anyone interested in zooming in
: a little more.
: Thanks,
: Ross
World of Watches doesn't sell fake watches, but they do sell "gray market" watches that come without the factory warranty. So, your watch is genuine, but it may have had its serial number removed to protect the identity of the authorized dealer who supplied World of Watches. I can't tell from the reflections in your photo, but if you don't have a small 8 digit number engraved on the back of the 7 o'clock lug, then it has been removed.
You should have received the white outer box, red leather inner box, red instruction manual (not leather - either hardbound or paperback), white card holder, pictograms card, and chronometer certificate card. Of course, they may have kept the cards if they removed the serial number. A watch bought from an authorized dealer includes a third card, which is the warranty card.
