Some info..
Hi Nigel ( & everyone else ),
Please excuse the delay in replying. I seem to be running out of hours in the week.
Firstly, Derek's suggestion is a very plausible one.
I did some checking have found some info. I'm not sure if it will directly help, but here goes.
According to the Jules Borel website ( www.JulesBorel.com ) the correct crystal for a 196.0169 is a TN5338. unfortunately they don't list a price suggesting that they don't have one in stock.
I then checked the "Japanese" Seamaster book. I can find neither the 196.0169 nor 369.0890 ( shouldn't that be 396.0890 ? ) - so no help there.
I then checked an Omega "dressing catalogue" from 1993 that I have. the 196.0169 is listed in there. It shows that it has a 1342 movement & lists the crystal part number as 063 TN 5338.
Unfortunatley I have no way of knowing what this crystal looks like.
You said you have a picture of the watch. Maybe that would help. If you E-mailme a picture I can Host/Post it for you. I can also check through the "Japanese" Seamaster book & see if I can find a match.
Do you know which part number your watchmaker checked ? was it the TN5338 ?
All the Best
Steve
