: HI, have desired an omega watch for sometime
: and have seen the one above advertised
: locally at a very good price (approx
: $600US). Has papers, receipts etc so is
: definately genuine and is in near mint
: condition. Just wondering, this is a quartz
: movement and I seem to be getting the
: impression the auto watches are more
: desireable and collectable. Would I ve
: likely to get my money back if I decided to
: sell this watch down the track. Are they a
: good model? To be honest automatics can be
: annoying if you're not wearing them every
: day. Many thanks in advance, Craig
Craig,
If you don't buy it for that price, please put me in contact with the seller and I'll buy it. I've been wanting a quartz version of my 2531.80 to have as a secondary "beater" type of watch. To get that model in near mint condition with all boxes and papers for $600 is a steal. That watch retails for $1700 new, so you'd only be paying about 35% of retail. You could easily sell it later on down the road and recoup all of your money. After all, it was the watch worn in "GoldenEye", so it is still a valuable piece to Bond enthusiasts and collectors.
As a general rule, automatics do hold their resale value better than quartz watches, but when you're getting a quartz watch at such a great price, you don't have to worry about losing money on it.
Cheers,
John
