: Hey Omega masters... Tyler again.
: I am sure that someone out there is as tough on
: watches as I am... I have accidentally
: ridden over a watch with my mountain bike,
: washed one inadvertently in a hot wash/dry
: cycle (serious thermal shock I am sure), and
: have countless bumps on an hourly basis. I
: plan on purchasing an omega for several
: reasons, but hope that someone might steer
: me towards a particular model.
: Are there any Omega watches that are more
: durable to abuse? If marketing is to be
: believed, I would say a James Bond watch
: should stand up well, or perhaps a moon
: watch? Needless to say, I am going to an AD
: since I am sure to be having regular
: maintenance done.
: Ever-grateful for advice... Tyler
This may not be what you want to hear, but the most rugged Omega would probably be a Seamaster quartz. The reason I say that is because a quartz watch isn't filled with a lot of intricate, moving parts that can be damaged if the watch is subjected to severe shocks. There's "use" and there's "abuse". If you're mountain biking over tough terrain and the watch is constantly getting bumped around, I wouldn't recommend an automatic at all. If you can tell us the specific activities you want to use the watch for, maybe we can help determine if an auto will work well for you.
