Material used in inlayed bezel

I have a Seamaster Quartz from the mid 90s which my wife gave me when new. It has a gold colored inlay in the stainless steel which surrounds the crystal. The inlay has 4 box-like extensions at each corner of the watch, each of which extend to the edge of the case. Does anyone know what material the inlay is made of? Thanks.
