Eric,

Here are some side by side pictures for your comparison..... Can you spot the differences between the older 2599.80 and the newer 2225.80?

The only differences are on the dial and caseback.

The newer 2225.80 has a large seamonster embossed on the back, while the old style has more background waves....

The newer dial has the word 'Seamaster' written in red under a metal (not painted like the old 2599.80) logo (it's hard to tell from these pics, but it's there).

If you look at the glow-in-the-dark hour indices, you'll notice that the 2225.80 has those encased in metal (aka framed indices or applied markers) vs. the 2599.80's white-painted-on border lines.

You'll also notice that on the 2225.80, there are no 12 and 6 o'clock markers.

More subtle differences are the longer hands and so-called deeper blue and more pronounced wavy pattern in the newer 2225.80 than the 2559.80.

Both watches are powered by the same movement and have exactly the same functions. Price is a little higher (around $300?) for the 2225.80.

Hope that helped.
