: I wanted an Omega Speedmaster from the very
: beginning of my watch collection and after
: doing my research I decided that I would
: wait for the Holy Grail of Speedmasters - ST
: 376.0822 Speedmaster Automatic Calibre 1045
: with Day-Date display.
: After looking "high and low" through
: my local watchsmith, AD and the internet and
: 15 watches later, I came across
: Chronocentric.com (Thanks Chuck Maddox) and
: I posted a question on the Omega forum
: concerning my frustration over its scarcity:
: Chuck quickly reminded me that its
: scarceness is why it is the
: "Grail." It's not just the rarity, but there is something about the persona of this watch that causes, no... That's not the word... exacts/demands a certain level of strife/effort/dedication to obtain.
Congratulations on your locating and obtaining the Grail. I hope it was worth the effort for you as it has been for many others.
I look forward in the days to come of reading of your thoughts and reactions to ownership of the watch. As for the question of the choice between at Breitling Cosmonaut and a Speedmaster CK2998... I'll mention a negative about each one...
The 24-hour dial of the Cosmonaut is often difficult to read and convert mentally until you get used to it.
The "Alpha" or Dauphine hands of the CK2998 while classic looking are often difficult to read quickly.
