: About a year ago as a completely new
: enthusiast, I decided to buy a vintage Omega

I think that you have already suffered through too much trouble already. There is a reason why everyone suggests sending it in to Omega. It's very unfortunate to hear about the problems you had with that past dealer, but if I were you, I would cut my losses and send it to Europe.
Omega has the parts, expertise, and they will give all of your old parts back to you, so if you're worrying about losing original parts, your worries are over.
