In Response To: 145.022 Speedmaster with 321? ()

: The following Speedmaster on eBay has
: 145022-68ST on the case back, but a 321
: movement. I thought that this reference is
: supposed to have a 861. Do you think that
: this Speedmaster is legit? Thanks.

Hi Kelly!

This one looks more plausible than the other one…

At least this one has the right dial for a c.321. However, it has the 105.012 and early 145.012 chronograph second hand, the other main time keeping hands look fairly new, and the case back should be on a c.861, not an c.321.

Chances are that this one probably had it's back switched [accidentally] at some point during a service. While it's possible it left the factory that way, it has the elements for about three different watches. And that's before the very modern bracelet.

I'd personally pass, but if originality isn't your highest priority it may be a worthwhile purchase at the right price.

Buyer be aware!
