Thanks Chuck!

You're welcome Kelly, my pleasure!

I've wanted a c.321 Speedmaster to complement my Sapphire Sandwich for a long time. I've browsed vintage Speedmasters on eBay in the past, but I've never felt comfortable enough to even consider bidding on one because of my lack of knowledge and fear of being taken.

I'm sure I felt the same way back in early 1999 when I first started on eBay, and it costs more these days than it did then, that's for sure.

Thanks to your fantastic article in iW Magazine I feel like I have enough information to proceed cautiously with acquiring a c.321 Speedmaster.

Well, my hopes for the article was to give folks enough information that they could cautiously toe their way into the marketplace and perhaps get their feet wet, without having to invest the $250 or so to purchase Alberto Isnardi's exellent Speedmaster / Flightmaster / Speedsonic "Master of Omega" Book [which is published in side by side English and Italian text]:

or pay around 200 Swiss Francs plus shipping for Marco Richon's older book Ω Omega Saga:

Which is only available in French... Or pay:

around $370 USD [including shipping] for Marco Richon's latest book: Ω Omega - A Journey Through Time:

Which has this sort of detail:

As I said in the article, it's impossible to cover the depth and breadth of the topic in notably less than a dozen pages to the level that these fine books do. But if I can give people enough of a taste that they feel a little more confident, and seek out my article page to learn about other resources available on the web, I've suceeded. Consider it basic training in the military and then you have to go on to specialty school if you don't elect to "wash-out"...

BTW, both the Italian book and Marco's new book are worth it if you're serious about collecting Speedmasters, the Saga is largely updated by Marco's newer book [ Ω Omega - A Journey Through Time] so it's more of an elective purchase if your a completist [and it really helps if you can read French!]

The mismatch between the case back and movement is enough of a red flag for me to walk away from this one.

Keep your eyes open and saving your ducats... Eventually a good one will appear on your RADAR, and you know how to contact me!

Thanks for your reply!

Thank you for your kind words! =)

Good Hunting!
