: If your friend's watch is the SeMP GMT, then it
: could be four years old. It will have the
: cal.2628 co-ax movement, the first ones
: having the high beat "A" version,
: which did have sporadic problems with the
: pallet fork jamming and there was also an
: over-lubrication issue in the escapement.
: Omega's answer was to reduce the beat rate,
: which resulted in the "B" version
: and had the added benefit of a slightly
: longer power reserve. How would you know the
: difference? Well, that model has a display
: back and using an eyeglass, you will be able
: to see the cal. no stamped adjacent to the
: balance wheel. I have the 2628A version
: myself and it did fail at the beginning of
: this year after 18 months of use but was
: repaired successfully under warranty by
: Omega UK and has run flawlessly since...
Kieron,
Where exactly is the number stamped, I can only see the number on the auto rotor and there is no letter after the 2628.
Cheers,
Steve
