Hi,

I posted the original message. Mine ended with a happy ending. I returned the watch to the jeweller's I bought it from. After a somewhat heated debate where I was pushing for a replacement and he suggested that Omega should repair it under warranty - I relented and agreed.

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your point of view) my watch was lost in transit and Omega sent me a brand new one as a replacement.

3 years later it is faultless - however, I haven't dropped it (yet).

I suggest you speak courteously to whoever you bought the watch from and take it from there in terms of repair under warranty. As other people have said (as I subsequently found out and researched) these things do happen.

Good luck.

Regards,
John
