: Hi everybody.
: I already own a deville power reserve watch
: which I use as a dress watch. I'm
: contemplating to buy another one to wear on
: the beach and both the seamaster Planet
: Ocean Chrono (2910.50.81) and the 300M
: chrono diver (2925.80.91) appealed to me. I
: checked teh price of both watches with a
: local AD and I noticed that the price of the
: Planet Ocean was substantially higher
: (nearly twice the price) than that of the
: classic 300M chrono diver.
: I was wondering what justified the difference
: in price. Is the 3313 caliber based on
: coaxial technology so superior to the 1164
: caliber? Is the depth difference (600 m
: instead of 300 m) or simply the fact that
: the Planet Ocean is a newer and more trendy
: watch that justifies this difference in
: price.
: This brings me to teh question that I am asking
: myself. Which of these two warches are worth
: the best deal?
: Thanks in advance for your replies
: JJ
If you want reliability you'll go for the Bond Chronograph. The F. Piguet movements have far too many problem reports for my tastes. The Piguet movements are unsuitable for a sporting chronograph. Unless you're a professional diver you'll never go anywhere near the SeMPC's 300 W/R rating so why pay a premium for W/R you won't use and for a co-Axial movement which isn't certified to any higher standard than the Bond Chrono?
Just my opinion...
