New SMP

About a week ago I bought a ss blue face 2000 model SMP.
Does anyone have any tips about owning one? It seems to gain or lose about 4-6 seconds a day - is this acceptable? What is the "break in" period I've heard about - and what is a reasonable time for this - and will the +/- seconds improve with time as the movement beds in? I'm not particularly precious about having a watch which is 1 minute out in 10 days, but I am unfamiliar with the accuracy of automatics.

Apologies for all the questions - this is the first mechanical timepiece I've owned.

-And I love it so far! The new face in electric blue with ss bezel has attracted many comments, and looks really good.
