Just really wanted to thank all the knowledgeable people here for taking the time and making the effort to help others identify, choose and enjoy their Omega watches!
I've "lurked" here for a bit, reading and learning and have certainly enjoyed and appreciated what I've found.
When I graduated from high school (wayyy too many years ago to admit), I was fortunate enough to have been given a very lovely gold Omega by my aunt and uncle. I treasured that watch for a number of years! Then I was in a car accident and the crystal was cracked. I took it to a jeweler with a good reputation and a week or two later, when I inquired as to when it would be ready, it had somehow "been lost." :::sigh::: Months later and lawyer fees stacking up, I finally agreed to a settlement of some other gold watch that was in the store, which I never cared for. (He had apparently been an Omega dealer and either dropped or was dropped in the middle of this "disappearing" act with me.)
I was making my way "up the ladder" in my career and then involved with having children and raising them. Only now, with one boy in college and the other graduating from high school this year, am I able to go look for a replacement for my beloved gold watch! *smile*
I've watched some of the so-called Omegas being auctioned on eBay and am truly amazed that people *do not* take the time or make the effort to verify what they're buying! Sure, I've kept up with the watch line over the years - but I had a true love for Omegas and knew that I'd be buying myself some day. Yet, I wouldn't consider purchasing something like that without some research and advice! Geez!
Anyway, I just wanted to thank everyone here and continue to sit here quietly (unusual for me! hahaa) and learn. I've just found a watch, currently up for auction, that is identical to the one I had. I'm lucky -- it's a seller with a nice, long track record on eBay and everything I've seen them offer has been top quality and in beautiful condition. I just hope it stays in my price range! hehee
Thanks again everyone!
Shelley :)
