: What did an Omega Celestial wristwatch retail
: for in 1978?
It wil probably take Omega to answer a question like that, unless some other reader here also happened to buy one back then or has an old catalog.
But you will probably need to be more specific about the watch too. Just stating a model name like "Omega Celestial" and year is too vague. Most Omega model series came in multiple versions (steel, gold, mens, ladies, on bracelet, on strap, hand-wind, automatic, chronograph, etc.). Without knowing exactly which model you have, no body can give you a decent answer.
So the best solution is to get the 8-digit serial number, send it to Omega at watch@omega.ch and have them lok it up and tell you exactly what model you have. They may even be able to tell you the original retail price for your country.
