: Steve,
: The pictures are "after." The
: replacement parts look exactly like what was
: on the watch before, with the exception of
: the face. The original face (which we still
: have) is the "type II" face with
: the lettering that says Professional -
: Seamaster - 600. The new face is the type
: III, with the depth rating listed in meters
: and feet.
: The service took about 3 months. It was sent in
: October 07, and was returned in January 08.
That really is the complete package! Your Dad is a watch collector's dream!
To go off on a tangent, I was recently considering some of the criticisms of watches offered for sale at Omegamania.
I read with interest:
"As usual with Bienne, they replaced the face, hands and date wheel, completely overhauled the movement, and replaced the crystal, crown assembly and the button mechanism. We asked them to return all the old parts, which they did sealed in little ziploc bags."
Since every watch in Omegamania was restored in Bienne, I wonder how much of the criticism of the pieces in the auction not being completely original (not an original face, hands, bezel, restored faces, etc.) was due to the restoration process BY THE MANUFACTURER.
To get back on topic: what an outstanding watch!!
