For the answer to the NUMBER #1 most frequently asked question here--for details or value of a specific older Omega watch you have--go to: Tell Me About My Omega. | Learn more about How To Include Photos and HTML In Your Postings. | To contact someone with a question not relevant to other readers of the forum, please click on their email address and contact them privately. |
The watch could last for 30, 50, or even more years if cared for well and is not lost, stolen, or damaged. Certainly wearing it daily for decades on end will reduce its total life span--just from raw wear, tear, and additional exposure to risk of damage.
You probably should stop using it for diving after about 10 years. With age, it can be harder to ensure tight seals. Also, should the seals fail, the cost to repair an older watch can more quickly exceed the value of the watch itself.
Most likely, after 15 or more years of daily wear, you may want to retire the original bracelet. Omega makes some of the best bracelets in the industry. But even so, daily wear and tear will take their toll. By then, it may be either scratched beyond reasonable cleanup or the interlocking parts may have worn to a much looser fit.
One great way to extend the life of the bracelet is to NOT wear the bracelet all the time. Consider switching the watch to a leather, sharkskin, or rubber strap in the warmer months!
