Let me ask you, Derek, will resetting the watch weekly, if that were necessary, cause undue wear to the watch? I wouldn't mind doing that, but I'm concerned that resetting the watch that frequently would result in some kind of internal wear that may be damaging to the watch. Any thoughts on that? Thanks...
: COSC is better than most people need in daily
: use. What the amount a watch varies from
: correct time really means is how often you
: need to reset that watch (once a week,
: month, quarter, year...) to keep it
: *reasonably* close to correct time.
: It is when that resetting becomes a
: sufficiently bothering inconvenience that I
: would send it in to be adjusted.
: For accuracy fanatics, it may be even while the
: watch is well withing COSC specs. For the
: average Joe, maybe at +/-10 seconds/day. For
: the collector with multiple watches, it may
: not matter as they have more mechanical than
: they can keep running continiously
: anyway--so are always restarting and
: resetting them.
: One thing to remember, every time your watch is
: opened, there is a small risk of it not
: being resealed correctly, unnoticed dust
: getting inside, or the adjustment
: unintentionally makign the watch worse. So I
: recommend considering service only when it
: is sufficiently necessary.
