October 2007 . . . how I accidentally bought a watch
. . . . and bought two watches on the same day!!!!
I was rushing around on a Sunday. I was driving out of town for a three day trip, my wife was out of town for the day, I needed to go to the office for a while . . . arghhhhhhhhhhhh!
I threw a bid on Ebay at an expensive new Omega at a ridiculous price -- ridiculously low. I had drooled on the watch at the boutique in February and had never seen it at a retail store. Shut the PC and rushed out the door.
Got to the office and continued rushing around and hit the road about 90 minutes behind when I planned. I got about an hour out of town and looked at my bare wrist. BARE WRIST!
It got worse when I realized because I hadn't gone through my usual packing routines I hadn't packed any watches.
ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhh h!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One complete business day with nothing on my wrist. I only looked about 73 times -- AT NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My wrist itched, I rubbed it constantly.
I made it almost 24 hours before hitting the friendly neighborhood Omega AD. They had a watch I had always wanted. We wheeled and dealed --28% discount, no sales tax. Peace came upon my soul and my wrist stopped the incessant itching.
Got back to the hotel room. Admired the new watch, opened the PC and checked e-mail. E-mail from Ebay . . . an out bid notice I was sure.
Nope -- I won. What's more, I won about $700 less than my ridiculously low bid. I got the watch for 37% of MSRP -- that's not a 37% discount, but a 63% discount -- delivered price. Box and papers, warranty cards, serial numbers intact.
Both watches have chronometer certificates inbound from Bienne.
That's how I bought two new Omega GMT watches on the same day.

I love the Deville brickworks. This is a perfect business travel watch. Substantial, businesslike, an imposing yet not blingy piece of jewelry.

I have always wanted the "Great White" and am delighted to have one now.

Two very different watches with the same functions, each well suited to their purpose.
So now I have a watch -- or two -- to travel with.
So I take this one with me for the alarm. So I'm guess I have a three watch travel rotation. I guess it has a GMT, also.

And its convenient to see after dark also.
