Your comment however has surprised me a little bit, because as far as I know calibres 1040 and 1041 were Omega's in-house refining of a Lemania movement but not the 5100, which was due to appear only a few years later than the 1040. Quite the other way round indeed.
Let's remember that 1040 was first used on the Speedy Mk III (ref. 176.0002), issued in 1969, whereas the first Speed with L5100 was the MkIV-cased automatic 176.0012, first sold in 1974 and this as far as I know was the first ever issue of any L5100-powered watch (all those by Heuer, Tutima, Sinn, Fortis, Eterna etc. came a lot later).
On the other hand, I've read (though I don't remember where...) that Lemania was kind of 'inspired' for putting that invaluable 24-hr subdial at 12 o' clock by the 24-hr disc that calibre 1040 sports below continuous seconds at 9 o'clock.
