: I recently inherited an Omega Geneva Dynamic from my uncle. It was
: not keeping very good time and so i thought I would remove the
: mechanism from the watch and try and adjust the rate. This was
: probably my first mistake. I saw an interesting posting on your
: site about removing the glass and quickly purchased a Crystal
: lifter. Ths worked fine but when I tried to remove the winder by
: pinging it off. the stem broke off leaving me with a winder and
: busted off stem inside the thread. With some brute force and
: ignorance i managed to remove the broken stem and twisted out
: the mechanism. Where can i buy a new winder and stem? i have
: searched on line and cannot find a stockist. Any views from you
: experts out there, please??

First of all, it sounds like you have gotten in a little over your head on this one. I would take it to a local competent watchmaker as it probably needs a service and not just a simple regulation. Recommended service intervals are about 5 years, so if its been longer than that, don't mess with it, just bring it in before you do any more damage to it. This is even more important if the watch is a vintage watch as there may be lubrication issues and significant wear causing the regulation problem. This cannot be corrected by just moving the lever +/-.

If you don't heed this advice then Im sure you can find a stem and a crown from Ofrei.com or Jules Borel. Both are watch supply companies with a large Omega inventory. You will need the case # and the caliber # to order these items. The case number is stamped on the inside of the caseback and the caliber is stamped on the movement.

Good luck with it.
