Speedsonic Lobster - HELP

Hi all

I bought a Speedsonic 'Lobster' Tuning fork Cal:1255 at an auction in London 2 months ago.

Shortly after delivery it stopped working. I put it into the local agent for Omega (I live in Dubai, United Arab Emirates) to see if it was as simple as a battery problem. They came back to say they weren’t authorised by Omega to open such a watch due to its age and they would forward to Omega in Bienne. After about 1 month Omega came back to me via the local agent stating,

“Due to the condition of your watch, we are no longer able to restore your timepiece. We regret to return your watch without having carried out any work on it, i.e. unrepaired.”

Which was further clarified by the local agent (as they had queried this statement);

“We regret to inform you that Principal Company is no longer in a position to undertake the repair of your Omega timepiece. (Attachment enclosed)

Principal wishes to clarify that this type of watch belongs to first generation of electronic timepieces. Due to the outdated technology, the necessary components for a quality repair are no longer available, thus the timepiece will be sent back to you in unrepaired condition.”

To say I was shocked to receive such a response is an understatement.

Can anyone please give me their opinion on this and advise if it is, in their experience, normal practice from Omega?

I am astounded that they will not even look at the watch, nor even offer a solution as to how I can get this Omega repaired.

Many thanks in advance.
