Re: May 12, 2009 -- First Anniversary of Chuck's Passing

: To salute the MAN I'm wearing my US Special Edition chronograph with cal. 3303. He was so right, that when that movement is 'on'. It's like a bullet. Here's to man.
: Tomorrow will mark the first anniversary of the passing of Chuck
: Maddox, on May 12, 2008, at age 46. Chuck was one of the leading
: experts on the subject of vintage chronographs, and he wrote
: detailed articles on a variety of subjects ranging from Omega
: Speedmasters, to Heuer Carreras, to the watches worn on the
: moon. Here is a tribute to Chuck that Allen St. John and I
: wrote, as it appeared in the October 2008 issue of International
: Watch.

: Many of you know that it was Chuck who suggested that I create
: OnTheDash and the vintage Heuer discussion forum, and Chuck was
: a mainstay of the Chronocentric community. Chuck posted hundreds
: of interesting messages, wrote definitive articles on a range of
: subjects, scanned catalogs and instruction booklets, blogged on
: a variety of subjects, played "sheriff" when he
: thought he needed to, and shared his insights through generous
: e-mails, both to novice and the experts.

: Chuck's website -- now located at www.chronomaddox.com -- was a
: cherished resource for collectors, housing Chuck's articles, as
: well as an amazing collection of photos, reference tables, scans
: of literature and instruction manuals, blog postings, and other
: useful items. Many of you have noticed that we have set up the
: ChronoMaddox Discussion Forum , though we have not yet promoted
: traffic on that forum.

: I expect that many readers will want to mark Chuck's passing by
: posting a tribute, telling a favorite story about Chuck, wearing
: a special chronograph, reading one of his articles or browsing
: his website. Any of these remembrances would have made Chuck
: happy.

: Jeff
