Seamaster is playing tricks on me

Dear all,
I bought a 'wonderfull' Aqua Terra Seasmaster a few years back that has been cursed with faults. I am now wondering if there is something I'm doing wrong or if there is a case that Omega should be helping me with.

The chronograph handle has un-hinged twice and the handle is floating about! This has happened with I have pressed the start/stop button. I reckon this is not at all normal, however is this a weakness others have experienced?

Secondly, when one presses and depresses the chronograph the pointer does not return to the 12 o'clock position, but moves backwards a few minutes for every time the chronometer is used. Why would anything like this happen?

The seller told me that it was better for the mechanics and the functioning of the watch that the chronometer was activated (on) all the time! Is there any truth of this?

As you can see, I am fairly unhappy, as this was not what I was expecting to pass on to my son....

Thank you for any response that could help

Christian
