Hi John...

No worries mate, thanks for your concerns which you have posted.

I post on a great watch forum in the UK and a gent there does work on these.. I sourced and researched before I purchased.

The watch is now on my wrist and working perfectly. My repairer dated it 1970.

Basically, he opened it up and there was (unbelievably) nothing wrong with it. He gave it a service.

The main problem was that the black seal had gone all treacly with age, and was on his photographs a real mess. He cleaned it up with alcohol, but had to be very careful as if the cleaning stuff gets on plastic parts it can mean a full strip down.

He has plenty of old workings and stuff in his charge, so if the three main parts needed replacing, he could have done it with ease.

The watch, including buying it from the US on the bay, import duty and postage to the UK, sending to Sussex, opening up, servicing, cleaning (bracelet and etc. too) and return postage cost me £149 UK pounds.

Happy days. And it hums beautifully!! :)

Shame is wasn't built on 1969... that would be my birth year watch sourced by chance!!

Greg. :)
