Odd Omega Desk/Table Clock

Hello,

My mother has quite an odd Omega desk/table clock which she purchased at an estate sale some time back for around $1 to $2. We recently got to talking about it and I searched and found this identical one:

I called the shop, and the price is $14,500!! Both my mother and my hearts skipped several beats... is there ANY way this clock is really this valuable? And where might I go to get a reputable appraisal?
