Traffic down at all watch forums - how many watches bought?

Call this my "op-ed" piece for today

As I stroll around the internet watch forums, the traffic on most is way down.

I think I am stating the obvious and somewhat uncomfortable truth:

Most posts on watch forums are --

-- look at what I bought
-- look at what I am thinking about buying
--can you explain what I bought.

I just don't think any of us realized just how much of a majority it was, or how many fewer watches are being purchased this year versus last. I feel a little discomfited to realize I -- and everybody else -- was really just being that boastful about our new "babies".

Comparing the first half of 2009 to the first half of 2008, we are down 38% in the number of posts.

So, I compared the number of watches I bought in the first half of 2008 to the first half of 2009:

6 in the first half of 2008
1 in the first half of 2009

How about you? What do you think about the number of posts you are seeing and how it relates to the number of watches purchased?

And how many watches did you buy in the first half of 2008 versus 2009?

I think I am onto something . . . what do you think?
