Re: New watch
In Response To: Re: New watch ()

: . . . . . but that employment will continue to decline????!!!???

: National and world political and economic commentary aside (that
: means you Jim), as we approach one year after the sinking
: realization that capital markets were, well, sinking, how was
: the last year different in your collecting life than the year
: before?

: In order to make your comments more objective,

: 1) give a few tangible statistics or measurement on your collecting
: activity (like watches bought, post counts, time spent, dollars
: spent, times your spouse or SO yelled at you about watches):

: a. October 2007-September 2008

: versus

: b. October 2008-September 2009

: 2) As well as how your attitude and enjoyment of collecting during
: the two periods have differed?

: Say, for instance, has your collecting goal and "Grail"
: watches changed? Your expectations for your collecting? Do you
: spend more or less time being a WIS?

: The world has changed in the last year, as it always does. What do
: you thing the next year holds for you as a WIS?

Allow me Sam.............I'm not going to answer your questions. Thats because they simply don't matter. I'm not being ugly about it
but this economic thing is affecting all collectors, buyers and sellers.
You've heard it said in the news that the recession is over, right? Thats the biggest lie told by the current administration yet, and there has been plenty.
Lending? I'm sure its up in some markets, but really very few, and the jobs market? I heard last week that our fearless leader saved 500,000
jobs last month.................that amazing because in the minutes to follow, commentary says that over 3 million jobs were lost in the same period.
Is this possible? Sure it is......... depending on who is doctoring the numbers. Being an Accountant, you would understand that
there could have been 3.5 million jobs lost but it was only 3 million...............sounds like he is saving jobs sure enough.........all is you have
to do is figure out which hat the numbers were pulled out of..............
When people just hear that the economy is slowing down they will slow down buying no matter what their employment situation is.
I am living this recession realtime and see no end in close sight. The commercial lending has not quickened as evidenced by my company,
a commercial concrete foundation service. I have not worked since last December, nor have I bid any large jobs. Ive had to lay off
42 employees in that timeframe. Is it getting better? NO What is my outlook for buying in the next year? GRIM.
The only group of people that can spend money that they don't have is the govt, and they are doing plenty of that. The people of the
United States have been sold the biggest bill of goods in history and it scares the hell out of me. Look for prices to continue to fall
and buyers to get much more picky on what and when they buy. There are some excellent deals with good sellers in the watch
market at present, look for it to get even better.
Last year I bought 6 watches of varying prices, this year............2. Will I buy any more? NO The money is simply not there and it won't
be for quite some time.
My collecting goal has not changed, what has changed is my ability to reach that goal.
