Re: Speedmaster/seamaster misprint dial?Prototype?put togeth

: I purchased this watch recently off ebay.I liked it because it was
: unusual and I could find no reference to it anywhere. It is the
: same as a speedy mark 111 but its dial is marked seamaster. The
: case back is different also its reference is 176 001. This is
: the only caseback I have seen with this ref(176007 replaced this
: ref)I have seen this ref crossed out and replaced with the
: 176007.Please look up ebay item number 290337946379 to view
: watch and details.Any info or Ideas would be appreciated. My
: watchmaker has looked at this watch and says the dial appears
: original and not refinished at all.The caseback isnt the best
: fit(maybe it needs a seal to make it waterproof??I have
: contacted omega but have had no responce from a month ago.

In this era, Seamasters and Speedmasters sometimes shared the same case designs. This is one of those designs. The 176.001 is a Seamaster that is not particularly unusual, which was replaced with the 176.007.

Nice watch, not out of the ordinary based on my cursory glance.
