My fiance got me a brand new "Planet Ocean Seamaster Proffesional 600m Co-Axial" as her engagement present to me a couple weeks ago (it kind of felt like a bribe, but she is a keeper) and I was setting the time against the atomic clock this afternoon and forgot to screw down the crown. I was halfway through a shower when I realized the crown was still in the "first" position, the position from which it can be manually wound but not adjusted, and I lept out of the shower and dried it as fast as I could. It is still running fine as of seven hours later. I tried shaking it to see if I could hear any water moving around inside, but all I could hear is ticking and the automatic kinetic weight jostling around...
Question: Does the crown being in the first position have any water resistance whatsoever? Enough to hold up against a shower? Do I now leave it unscrewed for a period of time to try and dry out whatever got inside? Like I said, I am a brand new owner and know next to nothing about "elegant timepieces" but I've wanted an Omega for about 8 years now and if I ruined this one I'm afraid I might do some permanent damage to myself... I really want to be able to hand this over to my kids in ~50 years and so want to do whatever I can to make sure it makes it that long. Any input will be extremely helpful.
Thanks,
a
