It should reset to virtual zero. If you could post a pic it would be helpful, but it should hit dead on. It may hit a little right or left of center but only by a scant amount. If you notice a problem then it probably is not resetting correctly.

It cannot be adjusted externally. You will need to take it to a watchmaker.
