: I am considering purchasing a 1958 Omega Seamaster Automatic from
: an authorized Omega dealer here in my hometown. I've noticed
: that the crown does not have the Omega logo. Does this mean that
: the crown is not original or did some vintage models have a flat
: crown? If it is replaced, does it matter?

That crown is not original to that case. It really doesn't matter that much, but you can get a proper Omega replacement (it will be a reproduction with a modern Omega symbol) for about $25. What concerns me about this piece is that the dial appears to be refinished which pretty much renders the watch to zero collector value. I wouldn't pay too much for this piece. The redial doesn't even appear to be that good and I don't believe the hands are original either. 50 year old lume does not look like that.

Whats the case ref# and the caliber #. If its a redial with replaced hands and crown, I wouldn't buy it and certainly wouldn't pay more than $200 for it.
