In Response To: Omega ref.2767 ()

: Hi there! I was wondering if anyone can advise on the following
: watch:

: Omega case ref.2767 movement cal.354 (bumper) year 1954...

: The watch is listed on ebay:

:

: The price is US $499

: Considering the dial of the watch has been restored I was wondering
: if the price would be too high...

: I don't have much knowledge (I only own another Omega vintage
: watch) and I'd appreciate a more 'expert' point of view...

: Please reply asap as the 'auction' is ending in a couple of hours!

: Thanks in advance,

: Jack

May I point out this is no auction? It is a "Buy It Now" listing.

Check completed (and sold) listings on Ebay for comparable watches, which is a far better guide than any opinion.

The BIN listing is likely to expire and be re-listed, in any case. I would advise patience and perhaps the new listing will be 1) a true auction or 2) a Best Offer listing, which will allow you a chance to negotiate the price.

My view of BIN listings are that they are simply a another sales venue for the listing retailer, and I generally ignore them because they are, by definition, not at a low price. The listing seller has priced the item at retail -- the price he feels it is fair for him and which might attract a buyer. No bargains there.

There are exceptions, of course. But generally, I pass BIN listings by.
