Touching Base

Just want to come out and say hello and thanks to all those that post and share their wisdom here.

I've been coming here for about 6 months ever since I got bitten by the watch collecting bug. Having posted, and been graciously welcomed to the Heuer Forum, the Forum leaves me with a sense of frustration. Reason being that I'm just not sure when I will ever be able to afford, and perhaps more to the truth, when I will be allowed to buy my grail, which at this stage is ANY Heuer.
Thankfully here I feel a little better qualified as I do own not one, but 4 Omegas, of which I hope we can discuss more in the future.
To date I have, a beautiful little two tone Tag Heuer 1500, (albeit quartz), an early auto Seiko Diver in excellent condition, a George Gray (Barrick Obama edition) Chronometer. ( A direct result of mixing alcohol and EBay, I'm not too proud to say.) Also an Omega reduced Speedie, which I love, and 3 other older Omegas which I am in the process of gathering sufficient information to present here for your valued opinions.
Sorry I am a little vague about my watch collection details, but I have not been at home these past weeks.
I will be very interested to gain more information on one specific Omega I have as it is so small. Designed for a chain, and to be worn around a female neck, it would not be much more than half an inch (approx. 15mm) at its widest point, and perhaps may even be solid gold, if not plate.
So all going well, by the end of the week I will have some pics and serial numbers.

I travel to mainland China approximately once a year, and I'm excited about my next trip as I will have watches in my list of things to do whilst there. Has anyone any idea if there is much to do in the way of watches in China? I somehow doubt that there would be many quality vintage European watches laying around, but i could be wrong. I have heard that in the days of Chairman Mao, watches were extremely valuable, but this is only heresay, and I am interested to know more.
Thanks and regards to all

Mark
