I made a mistake in buying a speedmaster chronometer on eBay. I was given a serial number but for some reason it's not on the lug. All I have is a star at the 5 o'clock lug. According to the local watch maker the movement is correct. I have contacted the seller and I was told that the serial number is found on the movement. Eveything checks out to be real as far as the physical features on the watch. Is it true that the serial number is on the movement? I guess the watch was polished because there isn't any brushed parts on the case and band.
