Re: Help identifying Omega watch

Your watch is a Constellation central lugs version powered by a quartz calibre 1444 movement and produced around 1985, so it's kinda reaching neo-vintage stage. Thje lugs system was based on a 1930's patented invention by Omega, and it started quite a trend amongst competitors, where they copied it mercilessly.

The model number should be 198.0145, and while you may not see all that many for sale, they were sold in volume and so one couldnt consider them rare. The metal content is correct. These were the 80's version of the earlier two-tone tradition. The bezel is 18k, but the case middle and case back will be stainless steel.

These are basically a date-date watch represented in sub-dials rather than a date window. Beautiful design based on Carol Didisheim's original 'Manhattan' designs and very much an 80's dress watch.

Interestingly, yes, the watch did have a name. It was promoted at the time as "Hibou" (meaning owl).

Cheers

Desmond
