buying a vintage Speedmaster

Hello Everyone,
I am looking for a 105.012 or 145.012 vintage speedmaster in good condition. I'm not sure where to find one. I see them for sale on ebay, but I am concerned that people are mixing and matching parts, and it seems like you really need to know your history to tell what kind of case goes with what movement, dial, hands, bezel, caseback, bracelet, etc. From the little I know, the watches I see on there don't add up (serial number on movement doesn't match model number inside case back, etc). I guess it's probably very hard and very expensive to find something that is completely "original" and in good condition. But I'm also not sure what would be a fair price for something short of that. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated, or anyone looking to sell a watch, let me know.
thanks
Ben
