In Response To: auto or quartz ()

: hey guys one last question before i buy, quartz
: or auto? Any more info besides the sites
: would be greatly appreciated.
: thanks

Or split the difference and get an Omega-Matic like I did. I have one and I really like it.

This version of the Seamaster utilizes an automatic winder with an Omega 1400 quartz movement. No battery is required since an automatic style rotor generates an electrical charge which is stored in a capacitor to power the quartz movement (similar in concept to the Seiko Kinetic). You also have a longer reserve than a standard automatic (around 5 days).

The watch has a slightly different look from the standard SM/SMP's (I personally like the date cyclops and numerics at 6,9 and 12 but everyone has their own preferences). Most of the other features are standard Seamaster. One thing to keep in mind..it is only availabe in a 34.8mm (midsize) case dimension. Water Resistance is 200m (another middle of the road feature). Pricewise, I purchased mine new for $ 950 through Ashford online with a 15% off coupon (see link below for picture, pricing and specs through Ashford) although I imagine it would be available from standard Omega dealers also.

An interesting note, there is not a lot of information on the boards about this model but the posts I did find seem to come from satisfied users. Anyway, I like mine - check it out if it sounds interesting.
