Hi,
I've got both the GMT and X-33. As Keith suggests, buy either on the bracelet and add the strap later. Almost like having two watches for a bit more than the price of one.
I suspect NASA uses the Kevlar strap to make it easier to extend when worn over a suit arm. There was a recent post showing the X-33 on what appeared to be a stock Kevlar strap with an extension to fit a suit arm. Kevlar is also less likely to scratch something or cause an electrical short.
Here's the NASA page to get the high res image:

My personal preference is the X-33 on a Seamaster 2000 style rubber strap with deployant clasp. I've been wearing this combination for a few days and it is VERY comfortable. The Kevlar strap is also barely large enough for my arm where the rubber and deployant has room to spare. The strap is not a perfect fit to the watch, but it's definitely adequate.
The X-33 and GMT are completely different watches. I love both and would not want to choose between them!
Best wishes,
Bob
