: way, so if I want to change the time to 3
: hrs back, do I have to turn it forward?
On the SMP, it is okay to turn the hand backwards if you only do it a little. But do not turn the hands backwards across a date change. The watch is not designed for the date change to work backwards.
: My other question is that, how does the date
: work, I mean how do I know if I am setting
: the time for am or pm?
Most mechanical calendar watches are not AM/PM aware--they simply advance the date EVERY OTHER time the hands pass forward across 12:00.
Where people get confused with this is because they assume it is more complicated than that.
So simply turn the hands forward until you see the date change. That is midnight to the watch. Now all you have to do is advance the watch the right number of hours--based on a 24 hour day!
If you are setting the watch to 5 AM, advance the watch 5 hours past when the date changes. If you are setting it for 7 PM, advance the watch 7+12 = 19 hours past the date change.
